I was born and raised in Baytown. My wife, Jenice, and I have been
married since 1978, and we have one son, Stephen, who recently
graduated from the University of Houston.  I am a graduate of Robert E.
Lee High School and Lee College and I am proud to have been named to
the Lee College Hall of Fame when I received my degree from Lee
College. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of
Houston, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and I have a Doctorate of
Jurisprudence from the University Of Houston School Of Law.  I have
practiced law in Baytown since 1993.

Prior to my career as a lawyer I worked for Congressman Gene Green
who was a State Senator at the time.  I managed Gene's campaign for
Congress in 1992 when he was successful over his numerous opponents
that included Ben Reyes, Sylvia Garcia and Al Luna among others.

Prior to my time on Gene's staff I worked for Exxon for ten years in the
Baytown refinery where both my Dad and my grandfather retired. Before I
went to work for Exxon I held numerous jobs including working for the
United States Post Office as a letter carrier for four years starting at the
age of seventeen.

I have served on committees for the city, school district and several
boards of service and charity organizations in our town. Jenice and I
teach a Sunday school class at Grace Methodist Church, and I currently
serve as Chairman of the Staff Parish Relations Committee for our
congregation.  I am a past president of the Baytown Lions Club and have
recently become a member of the Baytown Rotary Club. I currently serve
on the Sterling Municipal Library Board for the city and I serve the school
district on the Citizens Bond Advisory Committee for the current bond
package as well as the last two previous bond projects.

My service to Lee College started April 7, 1984 when I was first elected at
the age of thirty-one. I am currently serving my fifth six-year term.  I serve
as the Chair of the Board and was honored last year by the College with
a lifetime membership to the Association of Community College Trustees.
